Conclusion

Fragmentation of structured document is proven to reduce authoring and maintenance effort. In this report we investigated to what extent fragmentation reduces authoring and maintenance of documents in a collaborative environment. To this end we identified usecases that illustrate how such functionality could improve collaborative authoring. Based on these usecases we identified requirements of a system that implements such functionality. In addition we identified some potential problems that could and should be addressed by such a system. Based on the requirements we have described a conceptual model, that was used to implement a prototype of collaborative fragmented authoring everionment, scenariWiki. The latter was implemented using Scenari and ClioPatria. To evaluate our work, we have, in collaboration with the civil engineering department at UTC planned a user study with 20 students that will use our software for 6 months. Based on the data we collect during this study we hope to validate our hypothesis.
